Get to know us

Behind SOS Médecins Capbreton is a dedicated, compassionate, and attentive team. Every day, we put our expertise at the service of your health, with proximity and kindness.

Who we are

SOS Médecins Capbreton is a non-profit association (official name: Association de la Côte Landaise des Urgences Médicales – ACLUM), created on November 6, 2022, and member of the SOS Médecins France network. It is the first SOS Médecins branch in the Landes department, officially inaugurated at the end of February 2023 in Capbreton.

Our mission

Our goal is to ensure the continuity of care throughout the Maremne Adour Côte Sud (MACS) area – covering 11 municipalities, from Labenne to Seignosse, and up to Saint-Vincent-de-Tyrosse. We provide a form of liberal emergency care, positioned between general practice and hospital services (SAMU/emergency), to relieve existing structures and offer fast and appropriate care, especially for elderly or vulnerable patients.

Our values and history

The project was born from the observation of emergency doctors — such as Dr. Sonia Laban-Mélé, former regulator at the Bayonne SAMU — faced with a lack of medical solutions during night hours (midnight-8 a.m.), which forced patients to go to hospital emergency rooms and wait for long periods.

In partnership with SOS Médecins Côte Basque and other local associations, these doctors set up a liberal structure providing 24/7 coverage, starting at the end of February 2023. A spirit of solidarity and the sharing of experience with other SOS Médecins branches strongly contributed to this launch.

Where and how to reach us

We provide unscheduled consultations, available by appointment, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. We cover a wide range of cases: acute general practice conditions (fever, sore throat, abdominal pain…), non-vital emergencies (fainting, asthma attack…), and minor trauma (burns, sprains, sutures, non-open fractures…).
The clinic is fully equipped for emergencies (ECG, oxygen, sutures, nebulizers…), and in case of severe emergencies, our call center works closely with the SAMU for immediate management.

Address: 7 rue de la Palinette, 40130 Capbreton (free parking available).

Care process

Patients can book an appointment for a consultation or home visit (depending on medical relevance) by phone (36 24 — national number — or the local number 05 58 70 07 79), or online via rdvasos.fr. Requests are handled for the same day only, ensuring a fast and appropriate response.

Development and future projects

Beyond the initial offer, several projects are planned to strengthen our missions: enhancing traumatology services, collaborating with SOS Infirmiers and the UMJ of Dax (Medico-Judicial Unit) to better support victims of domestic violence, etc.
These initiatives reflect our commitment to being a truly supportive and innovative player serving local healthcare.

About SOS Médecins France

SOS Médecins France is the national federation of a network of non-profit associations, organized under the French 1901 law. It currently brings together 63 local associations, spread across the entire national territory, both in mainland France and overseas.

A continuous medical service

Since 1966, SOS Médecins has stood out for its founding commitment: ensuring continuity of care 24/7, all year round, thanks to liberal physicians specialized in emergency medicine. Initially limited to night hours, this service is now provided day and night, all year long.

Extensive nationwide coverage

The network federated by SOS Médecins France provides a major share of out-of-hours primary care needs, especially in urban and peri-urban areas. It accounts for about 70% of out-of-hours medical acts in these regions.

Structured organization

SOS Médecins France is governed by a National Board (composed of members from the federated associations) and a Board of Directors bringing together around fifteen local structures.

It also relies on specialized commissions:

  • Scientific Commission, created in 2013, designs guidelines, practical sheets, and drives the continuous improvement of medical practices.
  • Humanitarian Action Commission, active since 2006, coordinates international medical solidarity missions and interventions (vaccination, training, first aid, etc.).

Health engagement and partnerships

SOS Médecins France plays a major role in public health surveillance. In partnership with Santé Publique France (formerly the Institute for Public Health Surveillance), it contributes to epidemiological monitoring through the SurSaUD® network, by transmitting daily anonymized medical data collected across the federation.

The network also acts as a cooperative partner within the healthcare system: it works closely with the SAMU (emergency medical services), hospitals, Regional Health Agencies (ARS), Primary Care Teams (CPTS), ambulance services, and many other local stakeholders to guarantee continuity and quality of care.
